"My Walk" Profile Jarell Roach

2 Sep 2019 by Peter Ferguson

“These boots represent, metaphorically, the transformation of where I was “serving the wrong causes into serving for the things that are right and true.”

This is an excerpt from the inaugural Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Youth Rally & March “My Walk” profile of Jarell Roach. The Planning Committee couldn’t think of a more appropriate person to profile this Labor Day than Mr. Jarell Roach of J. Roach Presentation who for nearly two decades he and his family have served as members of the Nebraska Air Force Reserve, completing two tours of duty. Also, like King, Jr. he is overseeing multiple ministry sites in his home town. (His full profile is attached.)

The “My Walk” series is a part of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Youth Rally & March Planning Committee’s efforts associated with January 20, 2020, 25th anniversary of the Rally and March.

Stay tuned for our regular Monday release of “Walk” profiles between now and January 20, 2020, 25th annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Youth Rally and March (Lincoln, Nebraska). Profiles will include those of various walks including civil rights leaders; celebrities; educators; athletes; elected and appointed officials; youth; musicians and actors. We hope their “Walk” will inspire you in a time when walking hand-in-hand is needed now more than ever before.

Special thanks to Lincoln Southwest High School Brandi Benson and independent study scholars McKenna, Milana and Thursey for designing and compiling the profiles.

We welcome you to join our “Walk” toward the dreams of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Dr. Leola Bullock. A walk toward civility, equality, and justice for everyone!
