“Our theme is symbolic of the 25th year planning committee “walk” to promote the life and dreams of Rev. Dr. King, Jr. through positive youth actions. We are appreciative of the past but look forward to this year and past, current, and new supporters taking steps together promoting kindness, equity, justice, and civility,” said Azcia’ Fleming, Scholar Chair of the Youth Rally and March Planning Committee and senior at Lincoln High School, Lincoln, Nebraska.

“Response to our 25th year announcement in August of 2019 was overwhelming, not only in Lincoln and Lancaster county, but beyond. The committee took a long look at how to ensure we could accommodate and provide the best showcase possible for attendees to “walk” together. This is represented by this year’s slight change and “Call to Action” program location being the Centennial Room at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Student Union,” said Peter Ferguson, Adult Advisor, Youth Rally and March.

The Youth Rally & March is organized by a diverse group of area youth held in conjunction with the national recognition of the birthday of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. All components are intended to celebrate his legacy and the mission of the planning committee: “…promotion of the life and dreams of the late Rev. Dr. King, Jr. and longtime local civil rights leader Dr. Leola Bullock through positive youth action.”

The Rally and March, entering its 25th year, is a youth-run experience honoring the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and local civil rights leader Dr. Leola Bullock. Involving area youth, the committee is charged with promoting the lives and dreams of King and Bullock through positive youth action while creating an experience that inspires, educates, and entertains.
